2015-2017 BUILDING FOR THE ARTS CAPITAL GRANT PROGRAM RECEIVES $7.9 MILLION

Seattle, WA – ArtsFund announced today that on July 1, 2015, with the approval of the 2015-2017 biennium state capital budget, the Building for the Arts program was awarded $7.9 million, a receipt of the full funding requested for 13 capital projects across the state.

The Building for the Arts capital grant program was created in 1991 by ArtsFund and The Boeing Company to support Washington State arts and cultural organizations with facility improvements and expansion.  Since then, this highly successful program has been awarded over $88 million to support the construction of 207 projects across the state.

ArtsFund President and CEO Mari Horita said, “The Building for the Arts capital grant program provides critical funding which fuels our region’s cultural vitality. The commitment of the state legislators that supported this program, as well as the advocacy efforts by all participating arts groups and their constituents, continues to prove the value of arts and cultural organizations in our state’s local economies and quality of life.”
