power2give.org/PugetSound Reaches 6 Month Milestones

75 projects, 1000 donors, $260,000+

Seattle, WA – ArtsFund announced today that contributions from 1000 donors have brought $261,451 in new funds to the region’s arts and cultural sector in the six months since launching power2give.org/PugetSound. Thanks to its matching fund sponsors and donors, ArtsFund has matched all individual contributions 1:1.

power2give/PugetSound, presented by ArtsFund, is a year-round regional arts crowd-funding platform connecting arts and cultural organizations with individual and corporate donors on a project-by-project basis. To date, 75 multi-disciplinary projects from King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties have been posted on the site. New projects are posted on the first of each month.

“We are thrilled with the ongoing growth of power2give/PugetSound,” said Mari Horita, ArtsFund President & CEO. “We thank the 1000 individuals who have joined us, and joined others, in supporting vital arts projects throughout our region. And we thank our matching funders and sponsors for their investment and partnership in helping us establish power2give in the Puget Sound. Reaching 1000 donors in 6 months confirms that there is both great passion and great potential for supporting regional arts projects, and we look forward to continuing to build and deepen community and cultural connections.”

The donations raised fund a broad range of organizations and cultural activities from King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. Common project themes have included: production costs and equipment upgrades; youth-based programs and outreach; free or reduced access; community programs and outreach; arts education, supplies and transportation; original programming; and artist support and commissions.

Horita continued, “ArtsFund launched power2give/PugetSound with the goal of broadening the base of support for the arts by engaging and mobilizing new donors and funds, and the posting organizations report that 40% of donors are first time contributors. We look at power2give as an opportunity for growth in the cultural sector.”

ArtsFund launched power2give/Puget Sound on October 1, 2013, and the site has received more than 10,000 unique site visits. The most frequent gifts have been $50 and $100. All donations made have been matched 100%, thanks to the Raynier Institute & Foundation (founding matching sponsor and inaugural lead partner of power2give/PugetSound), as well as matches made by Amazon, R.D. Merrill, and by anonymous donors. Start-up and administrative sponsorship is by The Boeing Company.
