Visit Tacoma’s Vibrant Art Scene

ArtsFund is proud to provide funding to the arts in Pierce County, supporting organizations large and small through grant allocations, power2give crowdfunding, and leadership programs. We urge you to check out the vibrant arts scene in Tacoma! Access to Tacoma’s central Museum Row (including Tacoma Art Museum, the Washington State History Museum, and the Museum of Glass) as well as Tacoma’s Theater District, is easy via the Sounder train from Seattle.  With so many attractions within walking distance, the visiting the Tacoma arts community makes an excellent day trip, or for an evening outing check out Tacoma Symphony Orchestra or Tacoma Opera.

Broadway Center for the Performing Arts has a wide variety of programming, including comedy, jazz and classical music, dance, family events, and even disco!  On Mother’s Day, May 8th, moms get free admission to Museum of Glass, so make a date with mom. Tacoma Musical Playhouse has upcoming performances of The Wiz (an adaptation of The Wizard of Oz) and Mary Poppins. Be sure to see the current exhibitions at Tacoma Art Museum including Edvard Munch and the Sea, and Painted Journeys: The Art of John Mix Stanley, a leading 19th Century American artist. ArtsFund is proud to support this exhibition of works by a prolific and well-traveled painter, whose sketches helped chart the course for the Northern Pacific Railway.
