ARTSFUND ANNOUNCES 2014 AWARDS OVER $2.5 MILLION
BRINGING 45 YEAR GRANT MAKING TOTAL TO OVER $71 MILLION

Seattle, WA – ArtsFund announced today that it has concluded its 2014 annual fundraising campaign and has distributed $2,549,244 in grants to 55 nonprofit arts groups in King and Pierce Counties. With this allocation of the 2014 grants, the combined total of ArtsFund’s grant making since inception in 1969, inclusive of power2give/PugetSound funds distributed, surpassed $71 Million.

Mari Horita, ArtsFund President and CEO, stated, “We are proud to have crossed the $71 Million milestone. ArtsFund has been a stable and reliable source of funding for arts organizations throughout our region for the past 45 years, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen the community by supporting the arts for generations to come.”

In 2013, ArtsFund helped 59 arts organizations put on over 9,087 exhibitions and productions, provide arts access and arts education to 819,911 students, offer 1,418,728 free or discounted tickets, and attract 7,949,672 visits. Ray Heacox, President and General Manager, KING Broadcasting and ArtsFund Board Chair, said, “Thanks to the support of our annual campaign donors, with the distribution of 2014’s grants we are able to do even more. We are deeply grateful to the businesses, foundations, and individuals who contributed to this year’s campaign, enabling ArtsFund to maintain this critical investment in our community.”

In complement to ArtsFund’s annual allocations process, which strengthens the arts ecosystem by providing unrestricted general operating support, ArtsFund launched its newest funding initiative, power2give.org/PugetSound, on October 1, 2013. power2give/PugetSound, presented by ArtsFund, is a year-round regional arts crowd funding platform connecting arts and cultural organizations with individual and corporate donors on a project-by-project basis. Project contributions have been made by over 1400 donors, and thanks to its matching fund sponsors and donors, ArtsFund has matched all individual contributions 1:1. As of July 1st, ArtsFund has distributed $365,557 to 80 completed projects in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties, with additional projects active on the site.

The 2014 King County Allocations Committee was led by Co-Chairs Jane Broom Davidson, Community Affairs Manager, Microsoft Corporation and Joelle Skaga Nausin, Community Investments Manager, Starbucks Coffee Company. In Pierce County, Mari Horita, President and CEO, ArtsFund served as Allocations Committee Chair.

Two groups received first-time ArtsFund grants this year: Balagan Theatre and Whim W’Him.
