ARTSFUND AWARDS $60K in MULTICULTURAL ARTS GRANTS
Seattle, WA – ArtsFund is pleased to announce the recent awarding of $60,000 in grants as part of ArtsFund’s Multicultural Arts Project, supporting arts and cultural groups throughout Central Puget Sound Region.
ArtsFund is committed to increasing access to the arts and bringing communities together through the arts. The purpose of the pilot round of Multicultural Arts Project grants is to generate support for ethnically and culturally diverse arts organizations and programs in support of the broader community.
ArtsFund awarded grants totaling $60,000 to twelve multicultural arts and cultural organizations. The funds were distributed as matching incentive grants of $5,000 each, with the objective of empowering recipients to leverage these grants to raise greater support for their organizations.
Mari Horita, ArtsFund President & CEO, stated, “As we continue to explore ways in which ArtsFund can serve a broad range of arts and cultural organizations, the MAP grants provided a timely opportunity to build upon relationships and momentum from our power2give crowdfunding initiative. In complement to our annual grant making, the Multicultural Arts Project enables us to generate support for smaller, culturally specific organizations, and to provide broader access to funding and capacity building resources. We thank all our donors who contributed to this pilot fund.”

- ReAct Theatre: Seattle’s Multiethnic Philanthropic Theater
- Red Eagle Soaring
- Seattle Asian American Film Festival
- Seattle Latino Film Festival
- Tasveer
The spirit of the Multicultural Arts Project is to reduce barriers to arts engagement, increase access and opportunity, and engage new donors, while also allowing ArtsFund to increase its support for diverse cultural organizations throughout the region. Recipients will use the funds for programs connecting communities, creating access to the arts for underserved populations, enhancing cross cultural understanding, creating access to the arts for culturally specific communities, and serving youth.
Horita continued, “The groups supported through these grants do great work promoting cross-cultural understanding in our community, using art as a bridge across communities and generations. Working across artistic disciplines through performances, programs, and classes, these 12 groups serve a broad range of our region’s population, and we are pleased to partner with them on this initiative.”
