ArtsFund Passes $100 Million Granted with 2022 Grant Allocations

Since its founding in 1969, ArtsFund has been a steady partner for arts and cultural nonprofits in the Central Puget Sound Region. In June, thanks to the generous support of individual and corporate donors, we distributed another $2.1 million in annual grants to 63 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations throughout King and Pierce counties, surpassing a milestone of over $100 million granted.

ArtsFund’s annual allocations are distributed as general operating support grants, empowering grant recipients to determine the best place to invest the funds. This program works in tandem with our targeted grant-making initiatives. While our targeted grant programs allow ArtsFund to invest resources around mission-central focus areas, ArtsFund’s flagship grant program supports individual organizational health and strengthens our local arts ecosystem.

Money raised during ArtsFund’s Campaign 2022, which ran through June 30, supported the 2022 grant allocations, as well as additional programs and services reaching nearly 150 organizations throughout the Central Puget Sound region. ArtsFund is the ONLY nonprofit in our region that raises funds to support the arts and culture sector as a whole. Our work is not possible without the individuals, businesses, and foundations who contributed to this year’s campaign.

ArtsFund’s allocations are awarded by a panel of public, private, and corporate grantmaking experts who engage with ArtsFund in a thorough vetting process, evaluating application materials and interviewing the leadership of arts groups. Groups are evaluated based on their mission, community impact, organizational health, and commitment to equity. The 2022 Allocations Committee was led by Co-chairs Ellen Ferguson, Trustee of The Hugh and Jane Ferguson Foundation, and Erika Nesholm, Executive Director of the Nesholm Family Foundation.
