Emergency Relief Funds Announced for Local Arts

A coalition of arts organizations, led by ArtsFund, is working to launch the COVID-19 Arts Emergency Relief Fund. To date, the group has raised $1.5 million and is currently working to raise additional funds to stabilize the sector with immediate relief grants for arts organizations negatively impacted by COVID-19 and its corresponding economic effects.

ArtsFund created the COVID-19 Arts Emergency Relief Fund to help stabilize the sector with immediate relief grants for arts organizations negatively impacted by COVID-19. Arts organizations are bracing for worst case scenarios which could include closure, bankruptcy and insolvency. The goal of ArtsFund’s COVID-19 Arts Emergency Relief Fund is to enable arts and cultural organizations to maintain essential functions and retain core staff throughout the current public health crisis so that they are positioned to reopen when possible.

Stating, “Whereas, the City of Seattle recognizes the work ArtsFund has been undertaking for the past 50 years and wishes them continued success”, the honor officially kicks off ArtsFund’s milestone year.

68 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in King and Pierce counties will receive operating support grants totaling  $2,238,510 thanks to the thousands of contributors to the recently concluded ArtsFund annual fundraising campaign. With this allocation, ArtsFund will have awarded nearly  $84 million in grants since its founding in 1969.

2019-2021 Building for the Arts Capital Grant Program Receives $12 Million
